Season 2022

Prague, May 4, 2022 – The opening concert of the new international festival Bon Art Junior Fest took place at Prague’s Hybernia Theatre.

During the evening, selected contestants from the Czech and Slovak Republics who have previously performed at the Sanremo Junior CZ/SK festival competed for a cash prize. The inaugural edition of the Bon Art Junior Fest was such a summary of five years of Sanremo Junior CZ/SK. Guests included Golden Nightingale Marek Ztracený, Marta Jandová or Helena Vondráčková and vocal groups Penta Voice.

During the evening, the contestants performed songs by Celine Dion, Christina Aguilera, Demi Lovato and many others. The nine-member jury, consisting of composer and producer Ondřej Soukup, Marta Jandová, Helena Vondráčková, David Žbirka and the director of the Kühn Children’s Choir Michaela Anna Dobrovolná, finally chose the 17-year-old Slovakian Sarah Tóthová from Kalná nad Hronom as the winner. She sang a song by Celine Dion – Just Walk Away, accompanied by the Bon Art Pops Orchestra. Sarah won the main prize of 4000 euros for her further vocal development.

“The final and winning means to me a great gift from God, who I accept with humility and a huge responsibility to the opportunities that come. I am incredibly happy and I really want to thank everyone for the trust they had in me. I still don’t believe it myself and it is something unimaginable that it is me. And what about winning? That’s a difficult question, but I will definitely look for ways to use it in improving myself in music, but my vision is to record an album that would make other people happy” Sarah confided after the competition.

After five years the licensing cooperation between Sanremo Junior CZ/SK and Moonlight Production has ended. In the following years, the Bon Art Junior Fest will be held for young talents.

“This year’s opening concert turned out great and I am very happy that we said goodbye to the past years of Sanremo Junior CZ/SK in style. Now it’s time to focus on our own festival and head out into the world to find the finalists for next year. We have already booked some countries and we hope that everything will be completed and we will have a real world final in 2023…,” says Jakub Liegert, the festival director, on the gala evening. Young talents will be able to apply for the first edition of the Bon Art Junior Fest from September 2022.

The winner is 17-year-old Sarah Tóth.
